Bitcoin mining on the Commodore 64!
I read an article from Hackster.io about a Commodore 64 bitcoin miner so I had to see it out for myself.
The Github repo for it is here: https://github.com/ytmytm/c64-... It runs perfectly with any Commodore 64 emulator. I ran it with VICE64 on my gaming laptop with no problems.
According to the developer, mining a bitcoin successfully on the Commodore 64 would take 337 years and 10 months but it's still a fun idea. According to Dave James of PC Gamer Magazine, mining a single Bitcoin with a Commodore 64 will take at least 50 trillion years and would cost some $1.1 quadrillion in energy costs alone to get that Bitcoin. Get your Commodore 64 out, load this Bitcoin miner, then wait until the year 2,358 to claim your bitcoin! You should also do something to keep the power flowing continuously for the next 3 centuries so you don't lose your progress.
